7th June 2010

God I look knackered - my face is kind of melting. I like the casual yet smart nature of this outfit. The trousers are very old Top Shop and while this style is the norm now I recall buying them in the sale unsure I would ever really wear them but liking them none the less. I've mentioned before about fashion going in circles. If you can remember back to a time before skinny jeans were fashionable or acceptable (weird to think they were once considered so bad taste) I purchased a pair of tight Diesel blue jeans with zips on side. Again I loved them but was so nervous about wearing them because people did stop and stare that I hardly wore them. By the time they were in fashion I think I'd shrunk 2 sizes so alas they were no longer skinnies and baggy jeans definitely were not ok!

The jacket is from www.virginiax.co.uk who has a stall at the vintage fair arranged by www.pa-antiques.co.uk at Hammersmith Town Hall. It was on her bargain rail for a steal price and despite being a bit holey in place I kind of like it even more. At the same fair (different dates) I actually purchased the necklace too. I'm so incredibly fussy about jewellery that I don't really wear all that much and don't have anywhere near as much as I would like. Basically I have very expensive taste in it and as a result can't actually afford anything I really like. Will I ever be showered in diamonds, rubies and pearls? Doubt it but hey ho - a girl can dream. What I do own is invariably gold I have realised and this has definitely evolved since teenage years where I thought gold was gross (so tacky) and silver was where it was at - very sophisticated.
